THIEVES have stolen jewellery worth more than £25,000 from a Dundee couple’s home.
The break-in is just one in a series of thefts to have happened in the city since the start of the year, and police are urging homeowners to ensure their properties are secured.
As well as the jewellery, two Sony laptop computers were taken from the house in Kerrystone Court on Wednesday, some time between 3pm and midnight.
Tayside Police said the couple returned home to find the jewellery, which was kept in a black wooden jewellery box, missing.
The stolen gems included a single-stone square-cut diamond ring, believed to be the woman’s wedding ring, worth £8,000; a round single-stone diamond ring worth £3,000; two bangles, and two necklaces.
The jewellery box they were kept in was also taken.
Officers described the woman as “devastated” by the loss.
Electrical equipment and jewellery were also taken from a flat in Clepington Road.
Thieves struck some time between 4pm and 7.10pm, and made off with a Compaq laptop, a Nintendo games console, an iPod, a beige wallet and a driving licence.
They also took a jewellery box, many rings, a watch, a bracelet and a black choker.
In a third break-in, thieves stole a Panasonic video record and an Acer laptop from a house in Lawside Drive on Thursday.
Anyone with information, or who has been offered the chance to buy any of the goods, should call Tayside Police on 0300 1112222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
