CARLISLE MAN STOLE LAPTOP COMPUTERS FROM NEIGHBOUR'S FLAT

A Carlisle man broke into his neighbour’s flat and stole two laptop computers after finding the front door key.
Christopher Broom, of Watermans Walk, used the key to enter the flat on January 5 and take the two computers worth £500.
When confronted by police later, he returned the computers and apologised to his neighbour.
Broom told district judge Gerald Chalk at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court that he was sorry for what he’d done and would never do anything like it again.
The court heard Broom, who admitted burglary and theft, had a gambling addiction and was recovering at home from an assault when he committed the offences.
He was ordered to complete 160 hours of unpaid work and given a 12-month community order and a 12-month supervision or
