12:37 P.M. — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is searching for at least two men believed to be involved in a series of early morning thefts of thousands of dollars of computers from area Walmarts.
Investigators are looking into three separate incidents where the suspects came into the stores shortly after midnight, proceeded to the electronics section and stole one or more computers, according to a sheriff’s office release.
The men then forced their way through the closed fire exit doors in the stores’ garden center.
The men loaded the stolen merchandise in a white Crown Victoria and fled the scene, according to the release.
The first incident occurred on Jan. 27 at the store on Colonial Boulevard, the second on Wednesday at a store in Naples and the third Monday at the Walmart on Six Mile Cypress Parkway.
The suspects took five computers worth $4,000 in the Monday theft.
Walmart surveillance video captured the images of the men, and Crimestoppers is looking for the public’s help in identifying them.
The suspects are described as Hispanic males around 20-25 years old and wearing hoodies.
Anyone with information on the rash of computer thefts or the identities of the persons in the surveillance photos is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
